A ShareGroup is a small group of people (usually 3 to 12) who gather primarily in homes, but may also meet in restaurants, the work place, the church and other locations to connect with Christ and with other believers. In a ShareGroup you will find people who care enough about you to know more than just your name. They share your concerns and support you in your spiritual walk. It’s a safe place where you can be yourself.
We were made for fellowship, to be in community with each other so we can encourage one another in all aspects of life, but especially our faith. While a certain degree of fellowship is possible within the larger body of the congregation, the close, personal relationships we need cannot happen with hundreds of other people. A ShareGroup is the expression of the church in its most basic form. We gather in the larger congregation to worship Christ, but we meet in small groups to know Christ and each other. As St. Peter Lutheran Church continues to grow larger, small groups will help us stay connected to each other.
The answer is in the name! Every ShareGroup is formed around five basic principles:
Support – Group members support and encourage one another through life sharing and accountability.
Help – We put our faith into practice in acts of service for each other and for others.
Adore – We adore our great God in prayer with and for one another, submitting our will to God’s and our needs to others.
Reach Out – An empty chair reminds us to reach out to others, inviting them to join us in community.
Educate – Bibles get opened as we get to know Christ and learn to the His disciples through the study of His Word.
